2023 Race Update

2023 Race Cancellation

It is with a heavy heart that I must reach out to you today with unfortunate news. Due to lower-than-expected registration numbers, we regret to inform you that the Canmore Crux 2023 event has been cancelled. We understand the disappointment this may bring, as we were looking forward to a fantastic event this season.

The decision to cancel was not made lightly, and we deeply regret any inconvenience caused. However, with the current circumstances, it is simply not possible to proceed with the event this year. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your interest and support of the Canmore Crux. We greatly value your participation and hope that you will consider joining us if we are able to revive the event in 2024, provided there is sufficient interest at that time.

Athletes who were already registered will receive a 100% refund. An email has been sent outlining the method of reimbursement

We truly appreciate your understanding and support. We remain committed to providing an exceptional gravel cycling experience and hope to see you in the future. Thank you once again for your interest in the Canmore Crux. We value your involvement and look forward to potential future opportunities to come together as a vibrant community of cyclists. Wishing you the best in your cycling endeavors and future adventures.

Jordan Bryden Race Director, Canmore Crux

Welcome to the Canmore Crux

The Canmore Crux Gravel Bike Race will take place in the Canadian Rockies this coming September! What better way to finish off your season that with a fun and unique race at one of Canada’s crown jewels! We are excited to work with the Canmore Nordic Center to bring a new event to the community

Our mission is to run a race that all endurance athletes can enjoy! While the course has some challenging ups and downs- it is not overly technical and can be attempted by anyone with reasonable bike handling skills. No gravel bike? Want a more comfortable ride? Mountain bikes are also welcome!

We are happy to welcome gravel cyclist and mountain bikers to join in on the fun this September! There are simply not enough cycling events to enjoy in our province this year and we are happy to open our Saturday event up to the "ride or die" cyclists. You do not need to be a licensed cyclist to compete/ participate. Our Event is recognized by the ABA as a stand alone event.

MASS START Saturday's cycling race will feature a mass start with all participates. Podium finishers will get some great prizing in addition to a champion's hoodie!

EVENT GUIDE Cyclists must also read through the event guide and also review the Youtube pre-race video before coming to compete. This means that all the same rules apply. Please pay extra close attention to the rules regarding littering, bear spray, and parking!

NEW FOR 2023. Athletes are invited to race the "Crux Lite!" This new event will be a two lap version of our popular 5 lap race.

Welcome to our playground

The Town of Canmore is one of the most beautiful places in all of Canada to explore, train, race, and play! Canmore is known for craggy summits like the Three Sisters and Ha Ling Peak. In nearby Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, the Grassi Lakes Trail weaves past a waterfall to 2 turquoise blue lakes. An hour west of Calgary, 22 kilometres (12 miles) east of Banff, and nestled next to the larger wildlands of Kananaskis Country, Canmore is energized and inspired by our incredible location. Our beauty is enviable, geography, mind-boggling. We take advantage of the environment that surrounds us but we’re committed to sustaining it.
